East London's MAK Releases New Introspective Single 'Please'

The first release of the year for East London-born rapper MAK offers an honest and intimate insight into his life on ‘Please’.

Known to challenge genre norms, ‘Please’ has a minimalistic production that provides a space for MAK to breathe and be transparent as his narrative unfolds before us. It’s measured paced, and laidback, in moments a playful line is executed with charm before continues to unearth his impressions.

He shares what he’s currently going through, and admits to failed dreams, romantic situations and the reasoning behind his need for space. Rapping the verse with a newfound clarity, “Certain things you just can’t be told/have to go through some ish just to see for you self.”

On the inspiration behind the single, MAK explains, ““Please” is a reintroduction of myself in a weird way. I’ve had a lot of experiences over the past year that I’ve drawn from to create this record. I’m sharing my views on life in recent times. I touch on various subjects such as family, hobbies, women, and ultimately what I see for myself in the near future.”

The accompanying music video is directed by Sebastian Luke-Virgo, and skips through a variety of  vibrant coloured backgrounds that creatively reflect the different moods MAK experiences.

'Please' follows a string of releases such as 'Fortress', 'Check', and '25', his latest track signals that MAK’s momentum isn’t stopping anytime soon.
