Nine8 are the beating heart of the UK alternative scene. All esteemed artists in their own right, the collective have illustrated unparalleled creativity and startling sonic vitality with each respective solo and group release.
The new cut ‘Imagination’ is the group's first offering of the year, and sees them enter a new musical phase that stays grounded in their style but pushes their sound towards new creative heights. The vibrant beat sees Mac and co at their production pinnacle, with hazy synths grounded by booming 808’s. We have contributions from an array of group stalwarts, with Lava La Rue’s softly anthemic chorus easing us into turns from Lorenzorsv, Biig Piig and Nige. Each artist flaunts their unique style, lyrical approach and delivery, showcasing a strikingly eclectic mix of Rap, R&B and Alternative.
Speaking on the release, Lorenzo offers that it "was one of the first songs we worked on together with us all being back in the studio: the process felt extremely relaxed and therapeutic." Lava La Rue goes on to add: "the chorus to 'Imagination' is inspired by the 1986 anthem ‘We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off' by Jermaine Stewart, before finishing with a nod to the 1971 film of 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory'."
As good as each artist is individually, the combination of sounds and the chemistry of the Nine8 members provides an unsurpassably enchanting listening experience. You can catch the collective live at an array of festivals this summer, including Dot to Dot, Dour Festival and Stanton Calling.
