A thought-provoking experimental visionary of an EP, his vocals have seamlessly and neatly combined his alternative Funk, R&B and has become one of Hip-Hop’s talents to watch. In The Audacity Of Free Thought we hear many different versions of his signature style in the 5 track EP which tells the story of his Ghanian roots and his life over the past decade.
The Audacity Of Free Thought hits all of the expectations that we had for this artist and more such as the spiritual, experimental and mesmerising bangers of what he does so well. This EP never moves away from his Ghanian Roots, and throughout the tracks tell the stories of his indigenous heritage on tracks such as ‘Agbe Dzidz’ where, we can hear the West African roots of the drum beats and jazz sensibilities throughout the song. We hear through 'Perception' the vocals which instantly made the whole song feel as though you were with him and showed the electronic simplicity of believing in yourself which is an instant hit for your playlist.
Delasi’s ‘Learn From Adversity’ features Botswasna musician Lolllise and shows off the artists catchy but meaningful song with powerful lyrics. With ‘Amplifer’ which the artist released with Afro- Jazz musician Nii Noi Jortey, it is instantly enchanting and feels as though the whole 5 tracks is a journey of his life from the past decade. The EP ends with ‘Audacity Of Free Thought’ featuring Jazz Musician Noah Dreiblatt. It’s the perfect song to end the EP with the dreamy vocals and the Jazz sounds which makes it instantly feel like you were at the end of a journey and is the reason why Delasi has come back stronger after a decade of no released music.
The project is perfectly done, with hints of jazz, soul, funk and R&B mixed into The Audacity Of Free Thought with many layers of his experimental work and his quiet but forte vocals.
