Debbie Weathers Storm On Latest Single 'Rain'

Taking inspiration from the difficult times instead of folding, British soul songstress Debbie gathers an inner strength to weather the storm on her latest offering ‘Rain’.

Firmly established as the face of Britain’s soul renaissance, on ‘Rain’  Debbie conveys an intense and direct defiant message that is boldly daring and resonates with a generation that is tired of waiting and in need of freeing.

Departing from slow ballads, and emotive offerings, her patience has waned and the turn of the new year signals that she is determined to fill her ambitions and steel herself.

She sings “Let it roll down your face” she sings “[It’s] nothing but a bit of rain…

Produced by Ross Monro and Max Wolfgang, Debbie remains true to her classic style on this up-beat track that is pushed by the slapping of loud drums and percussion. But expressive piano chords are the essence to the structure.

The chords lean into the feeling of gospel, and experimenting with the varied sounds of electric guitars and layered sampled harmonies as the track draws to a close only reinforces the spirituality that had gradually been building.

Debbie states that she “[I} needed a song that made me feel light. Everything around me has been heavy recently, the music is a reminder that just like rain - it will all pass.”

Building on sold foundations and her first MOBO Award nomination from a fruitful last year, it’s proving to be an exciting start to this new period for the London-born artist.
