Debbie Returns With The Powerful 'No Way'

Returning with her new single, South London songstress Debbie thrives in the righteous hurt and anger as she confronts an ex-unfaithful partner on ‘No Way’.

Debbie’s soulful voice is mesmerising as she glides over the energetic beat that is pushed by a loud base drum, and delicate synths that sit underneath.

Her rawness holds you, and the hook of the song is delivered in a breathless manner that does well to capture the tension felt.

She also demonstrates her piercing lyricism as she sings “ Say it with chest/ I got the best/ my love is one of a kind” with a challenge in her tone daring her ex to disagree.

Produced by British producer Jonny Coffer, Debbie states that “I remember I wore sunglasses for like the whole week. And I was just listening to Don’t Hurt Yourself by Beyoncé on loop, stomping around everywhere I went,” she laughs.

“I walked into the session in a bit of a mood and I sang the chorus, but I was so angry I couldn't come up with a verse so I just left it.”

Waiting roughly a year to return to the unfinished track, prompted by Johnny Coffer. Debbie still hurt by the situation that inspired the song, but “sent it to MNEK and he came up with the verses and bloody smashed it!”

Speaking on potential new music “I think I'm just going to be free with it. Like, I don't know what I’m going to do next. I feel like whatever comes comes and I’ll just go with it.”
