Danny Sanchez, C.REM & The Silhouettes Project Navigate Love On The Slick 'No Fumar'

South West London lyricist Danny Sanchez, Hackney-raised talent C.REM and collective The Silhouettes Project have teamed up for their new offering 'No Fumar', as they explore the beginning stages of new love and it’s complexities.

You can hear the seamless and genuine feel of the chemistry between the pair as they find pockets in the smooth sounding record produced by Kunfused.

On this hazy cut you can hear the wailing strings and sharp percussive textures heightening the mood as Danny Sanchez silky flows over the soundscape seeping colour from his deep-rooted wordplay. Dipping into his biluagiality as he transitions into Spanish and English interweaving the languages together.

Interjecting in between the Paraguayan’s verses, the East London rapper C.REM joins in, delivering in a gritty undertone authentic images of daily interactions with his love interest.

The track is the the fourth single taken from The Silhouettes Projects’ anticipated sophomore album The Silhouettes Project Vol. 2, which is a follow up to their debut in 2020.

The collective, formed by Asher Korner (Asher Kosher) and Jaden Osei-Bonsu (Eerf Evil), explore the hidden and diverse stories being told across London’s underground and sub-cultures

Speaking about the track, Danny says “From start to finish the whole experience was so much fun and it was an honour to work with such a talented group of people.

The chemistry between us all in the room lead to a track I think we’re all really proud of and can’t wait for people to hear. Working on The Silhouettes Project was a beautiful reminder that there are so many like-minded people around us to connect and share with.”

"The song represents the contradiction of having the need for your own agency and keeping footloose whilst still being human wanting interaction and connection, C.REM adds.

"It came about naturally and we just had a lot to share and say from personal experience and just gelled with the concept and had it written in a couple sessions. The tracks been a pivotal moment in my understanding of myself as an artist and the finished project is one of my proudest works to date.”
