The LA based multidisciplinary artist Daisy Hamel-Buffa, or DAISY WORLD has released her long awaited debut album ‘TOOTHPICK’. ‘TOOTHPICK’ is self-produced alongside Albert Jairo Gordon, and features exciting contributions such as Patrick Paige II (from The Internet), Matt Emonson, Waylon Rector, Justin Jackson and Matthew Fildey.
DAISY WORLD has blossomed within LA music culture having collaborated with stars including the likes of Tyler, The Creator, as a feature on ‘CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST’ as well as Steve Lacy from his Grammy Award Nominated album ‘Apollo XXI’. Now, DAISY WORLD has launched her own debut album from her colourful bedroom studio into the world.
“A whirl of cosmic breakbeat pop” – The Guardian
“Daisy sings in the relaxed tone of a jazz-trained vocalist taking a stroll through a garden of tasteful chord changed rendered in big, bright synths.” – The Fader
“Quintessential nostalgic blend of alternative R&B and indie-pop” – Lyrical Lemonade
TOOTHPICK showcases DAISYWORLD as a versatile artist from its sun-kissed opening track “come over” speaking on desire for affection, to shuffling piano-flecked indie R&B rhythms of “the big cool”, entering breakbeat pop of “ur soggy” as well as the electro-soul on the empowering “break it off”. The latter half of TOOTHPICK is rounded off by blisteringly personal and soulful songs, such as “so it goes”, or the 90’s R&B “pho & cry” as well as speaking on mental illness and her own mood disorder on “blindfold”, ending with the graceful and delicate piano ballad “i miss u”.
Daisy in her own words, claims: “I feel like TOOTHPICK marks a time of transformation, it’s a bridge to who I was and who I am now. It was a lot of learning and growing for me; finding my power, finding my confidence, growing from a lil girl into a woman who believes in herself and knows herself so much more.”
