Cruza Establish Their Own World on Debut Album 'Cruzafied'

Cruza open up an entire world filled with planets and stars that we step into, gaze at, and then marvel in wonder on their long-awaited debut album, Cruzafied.

An artful album, it is composed from intricate arrangements by AJ Roth (bass/production), Charity Joy Brown (guitar), and Sago (drums/live programming) before complimented by the vocals of Adam Kain.

The body of work pushes past genre boundaries, exploring a wide score R&B, psychedelic rock and funk meeting at an intersection to make their own distinct sound, afro-surrealist.

“When you hear certain artists, they’ve established their own world, where you can only go to them for that experience,” AJ says. “We want to establish our own world.”

‘Been Astal’ is our introduction into the Def Jam signee's world, before the funky deep bassline and wavey synths takes us further with ‘First Time’, an electrifying serenade about how long term love can feel still feel now.

Before posing a thoughtful question of the sustainability of love on ‘Such is love’, as lead vocalist Adam Klain croons, “You’re that perfect part of me? I just can’t see / A distant star among the clouds that I can’t reach”

A secret rendvous is executed on ‘Creep’ against an off-beat percussion instrumentation and expressive guitar chords. Whilst bridging the gap between friends and romantic love is explored on the relatable as you long for something more on ‘Lovers Rock’.

Slowing down with downtempo looped guitar rifts, ‘Patience’ offers reassurance at the risk of the moment passing you by.

The measure approach is kept as a litter of notes and light toned vocals recreate the effects of an atmospheric high on ‘One Day I’ll Float Away’ as escapism is explored but the pace is quickened on the soulful ‘On Fye’ and then heated by the hazy and burning 'Supa Anxious’ a seductive offering.

‘Veronica’ and ‘Dragonfly’ follow the formula of the album before the jazz influenced ‘Horoscope’ departs it. Ending with the spiritual ‘Cosmic Plea’ a beautiful conclusion aimed at the higher powers.

The Florida based quartet are also scheduled to play headline EU tour in the autumn with a London show on October 8th.
