Henrik Vibskov’s AW25 show at Theatre Republique was a masterclass in the art of transformation. Known for his multidimensional approach—oscillating between fashion, art, and music—Vibskov unveiled his latest collection, “A bit Overwhelmed by the Opaque Resonance,” with a quintessentially layered narrative.
Drawing on a recent family trip to the Dolomites, where the interactions he witnessed between nature and human ambition struck a chord. Vibskov reinterpreted the stark utility of old uniforms and extreme sports aesthetics into a collection that feels both elemental and modern.
The show was staged in a tented courtyard in central Copenhagen, where an expansive table draped in white linen, littered with half-eaten plates, champagne bottles, mossy rocks, sculptures, and even bowling pins, evoked the aftermath of a decadent, hedonistic party.
Against this backdrop, models navigated the space—sometimes parading atop the table—while Vibskov and his close collaborator, musician Mikkel Hess of the Hess Is More collective, orchestrated a soundscape that evolved from ethereal whispers to a groovy pulse.
In this work, Vibskov continues to challenge the conventional. His silhouettes, a medley of oversized technical jackets, jumpsuits, and parachute trousers, are rendered in earthy tones spiked with tangerine and zesty yellow. Playful prints featuring mountain goats, fishermen, and footsteps disrupt the traditional, while classic motifs such as pinstripes and plaids are reworked into boxy tailoring and funky knitwear.
Vibskov’s commitment to reinvention extends beyond the garments themselves. The show’s striking scenography—a nod to both the industrial past of its venue and the raw energy of his inspirations—is destined to live on in subsequent performances.
In a season defined by reinvention and boundary-pushing, Henrik Vibskov’s AW25 collection is a tribute to the power of creative synthesis— the old is dismantled, reassembled, and elevated into something entirely new.
