A. Roege Hove, the Copenhagen-based knitwear brand helmed by designer Amalie Røge Hove, opened the second day of Copenhagen Fashion Week with a collection that reimagines knitwear through an elegant and symmetrical lens. Presented in the brand's own industrial studio space, the setting provided a stark contrast to the ethereal, sheer garments that graced the runway.
Titled "Shapes," the collection delivered on this promise with a harmonious blend of geometric rib patterns, symmetry, stripes, and deliberate cutouts. The neutral colour palette, punctuated by occasional burgundy accents, allowed the technical craftsmanship to take centre stage.
Notably, this season marked a shift for A. Roege Hove, as the brand incorporated wool—a departure from its usual reliance on nylon. The wool was transformed into delicate, translucent knits and playful, flounced hemlines, offering an extensive study on the female form. Accessories such as balaclavas, fingerless gloves, and skinny scarves, all crafted in the same delicate weave, complemented the ensembles.
The brand's signature fabric manipulations returned, with pleats and folds creating more sculptural, gown-like silhouettes. Fabrics varied in thickness, from sheer tops to substantial knitted cardigans and slitted jumpers. Layering was a key theme, with sheer layers beneath heavier fabrics, often styled as off-the-shoulder tops or open-button cardigans.
The collection also featured stripes in keyhole tops, Bardot silhouettes, and skinny scarves. Oversized, box-shaped accessories, wrapped in the brand's signature pleated fabrics in classic black and white hues, completed the looks.
With this collection, A. Roege Hove continues to challenge traditional knitwear techniques, offering a modern and artistic approach to craftsmanship that redefines our perception of shape and material. Carving out a new path in modern craft, brimming with innovation and unyielding elegance.
