Con Cook's EP Take Time: An Ode To UK Subcultures

Con Cook, 23-year-old artist based in East London, brings forth a compelling fusion of UK Hip Hop, Garage, and breaks in his latest project. Rooted in raw honesty and authenticity, his music navigates seamlessly between dancefloor-ready beats and introspective vulnerability.

Originally from the south west of England, Con Cook draws inspiration from London's underground dance and rap scenes, infusing his own style with honest lyricism and distinctive production, creating what he terms as ‘chill rap.’ The project kicks off with the lead single Take Time, showcasing a UK Garage influence with its infectious groove and energy. From there, it delves into emotional breaks with tracks like onthefone and delivers a summer anthem with Blackwharf Bounce.

Reflecting on the project, Con Cook describes it as a sonic representation of the past eight months of his life—a period marked by turbulence, lessons, change and moments of beauty shared with his closest companions. He emphasises the importance of honesty and authenticity in his music, expressing pride in his inaugural body of work. Collaborating with others has significantly influenced the project, both in terms of its musical direction and its lyrical content.
