Collab With Maison Margiela X Reebok Creates The Revamp Classic Leather Tabi Décortiqué Low

Who is not a lover of Reebok classics? As we stand back and watch Reebok again kick start the year 2022 off with an awesome collab that speaks volumes. Introduce the US sportswear brand Reebok teaming up with the avant-garde talents of Fashion-forward brand Martin Margiela, bringing their audience a new modern definition to Reebok classic leather.

Casting our eyes on a new look, the partnership between the two brands takes a revamped approach on the well-known release of A/W 1983 style representation of the Reebok iconic classic leather runner trainers, bringing forth into the year 2022 - Classic Leather Tabi Décortiqué Low.

The trainers include the revamped feature of the split-toe attained from one of Martin Margiela’s 1988 Tabi exhibition shows.

There is something impressive about looking back at past creations that designers may repeat. However, this repetitiveness of viewing past classics allows the designer to open their eyes and think of different ways to recreate the item into something new and fresh again.

In this case, adopting the pioneering haute couture techniques of the Fashion house of Martin Margiela, Creative Director John Galliano has reintroduced the techniques of Décortiqué meaning in French - shelled, through this new collab offering. Put into words, the décortiqué process depicts the examination of an item’s framework by peeling away the structure and remaining is the layout of the internal construction ready to be worn.

Since June 2021, the previous version released was the Classic Leather Tabi High trainer, a new interpretation of the original structure. However, 2022 new and improved version new structure makes this trainer a statement piece to wear. Featuring elements including the internal structure out on display by utilising the décortiqué technique, the trainer reveals the lining expose to view, providing unique originality to Martin Margiela’s design.

The trainer presents a hand-crafted method, painted white with a black leather fabric foundation, which by design flakes away from wearing the trainer.
