Recent years have seen social media as a powerful tool for artists to engage with fans, often being used to indicate responses to unreleased music.
Originally promoted as a clip on Instagram the early reaction resulted in Brent Faiyaz’s latest single ‘Moment Of Your Life’ being released the very next day. Produced by Sparkheem and Mannyvelli, who are a part of Dpat and Brent’s creative agency/label ISO Supremacy helps to create the essence of the lazy and often hazy type of love that often has you feeling cosily warm.
It’s a soft R&B approach that differs from Fiyaz’s darker themes, as he sings against smooth guitar rhythmic undertones. The producers take inspiration from sampled Nicole Wray's 'Boy You Should Listen'. Harmonious tones as he compliments and serenades his love interest, balancing playfulness and genuineness. He remarks, “And I got every other thing that I need and want but you And I've been wantin' you, so what you wanna do tonight? Make this the moment of your life.”
Coco Jones is infectious as she transitions from sharply emotive vocals that provide a nice contrast from Brent’s own voice as they engage in their own call and response. The accompanying videos provide their own personal touch, as they are shot from the recording studio sessions the duo partake in.
This offering exists in the post-Wasteland era and follows an album that wasn’t only heavily acclaimed but considered one of the best cohesive projects of the year
His European tour is scheduled to start on October 16th in Leeds and finishes on November 19th in Paris.
