Blackberrys in Roseberry’s Schiaparelli SS24 Collection

Schiaparelli, the Italian haute couture fashion house, is known for its eccentric clothing garments, such as the famous lion pin the size of a human head worn by Kylie Jenner and Irina Shayk last year. The Texan creative director Daniel Roseberry’s new collection has no expectations.

On Monday morning, celebrities like Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jeniffer Lopez, and Law Roach sat in the front row at the Schiaparelli show with faces of excitement. The show started off with a large reference to Elsa Schiaparelli. The women who created the brand. Classical garments, even ready-to-wear dresses, were made of all different textures: glossy, lace and velvet. The couture dresses either hugged the body or rose off of the models' bodies, covering half or all of the models' faces. Many of these dresses resembled galaxies and space through the material's shine and remarkable embroidery work. The collection also consisted of alien-like spines coming off the garments or worn as statement jewellery.

Roseberry stole the show this couture week with the robot baby. Held by a model dressed in all white, a small sculpture of a child made from old phones like Blackberrys, CDs, and microchips went down the runway. This creative choice was made as an ode to the baby in the movie ‘Alien'.

There was a lot of inspiration from movies, songs from ‘Top Gun’, ‘The Planets’ and more iconic films were played alongside the haute couture pieces. Roseberry’s collection referenced space, aliens, and old technology, and a large amount of inspiration came from Texas/Western America. Pharell Willams also channelled this look in his Menswear collection for Louis Vuitton SS24.
