Berna releases 'L's' In Anticipation of his Forthcoming Project 'EAST2ESSEX'

Berna releases his second single of 2022, ‘L’s’, ahead of his forthcoming project EAST2ESSEX. Produced by MB, ‘L’s’ provides a skippy beat and bassline which empowers Berna to display his effortless flow and trademark energy, keeping pace with the drum patterns throughout.

Filmed and directed by shotbyfaces who has worked with both Yxng Bane and Blanco, the video captures Berna with youngsters in his local area, with a nod to the ends and how far he has come. Berna's habit for using intelligent wordplay in his raps with specific details, often fashion labels and street names fused with his willingness to talk about the tougher times, results in an infectious song with melody and substance.

Berna has set the tone with his recent singles, ‘Da Pattern’ and ‘Forty’ which have shown his lyrical finesse and adaptability. He is becoming best known for his honest bars and ‘L’s’ reconfirms his growth and versatility as a rapper. In his new release, it's heart-warming to hear Berna spit lines like ‘hats off to my mother’, proudly showing love and appreciation to his mum throughout the catchy chorus.

Having been thrown into the limelight at a young age, Berna has been evolving ever since and refers to himself as an old man stuck in a young man's body.

Speaking on the video Berna said: “L’s! This track is fun and factual; no cap in my rap...the beat is vibrant and energetic but also calm. Perfect for da summer. Enjoy”

Born in Cape Town, raised in Harold Hill, East London and now with an Essex postcode, the rising rapper rose to prominence due to his impressive flow and wordplay as well as his brazen attitude towards rap battles or freestyles. Influenced by the likes of Meek Mill, Chip, Skepta, and Ghetts, Berna was raised on the greats who have hugely impacted his style today.

2021 saw Berna give his day one fans exactly what they wanted and he dropped a number of acclaimed freestyles including Tim and Barry’s ‘No Miming’ and ‘The Cold Room’ for Mixtape Madness. He has remained unquestionably consistent in a fast-moving rap scene since his Black Box freestyle which he performed at the age of 17 years old.

Berna has also signed to select models and did a shoot with Burberry and GQ earlier this year and now with his EAST2ESSEX project around the corner, the UK rap scene is poised in anticipation, 2022 is the year of Berna.
