AVAVAV SS25 ‘Forza e Coraggio’

Still hectic, Still rushing, still stumbling, nonetheless, that's the AVAVAV we've grown to like. Diving head first into controversy of what looks like painted-on garments, AVAVAV previewed a collaboration with Adidas which featured the classic three stripe on different sweatpants and jumpsuits, a puffer as well as a reimagined version of the Superstar. Continuing on the Superstar motif, a bag made of mini versions of the shoes has been seen on the runway, which this year is an outdoor football field, doubling down on the sportswear reference. It seems like this collection's goal was to bring out the best of both brands, Adidas' classic logos&silluhetes and AVAVAV's more untraditional shapes, styling, and presentation.

Although most times when seeing a fashion and sportswear brand collaborate, some intrigue and excitement brews, over the last few years it feels like collabs of such sort have been oversaturated and repetitive, reaching a creative stall. It is in many ways a handout for these bigger established sportswear corporations as it is a benefit for younger designers, whose ideas are used to boost sales and drive hype in exchange for grander exposure. Now returning specifically to AVAVAV and Adidas, although the concept is not entirely new, the collection's brave and provoking delivery makes it stand out, with the effort and thought put behind the presentation and show production being one of AVAVAV's biggest strong points.

Lastly, if you haven't had the chance to watch the show, here's a brief rundown of the key motifs and designs shown:

Glued nails, cut-up caps and dresses, puffed-up winter jackets and gloves, followed by slim cropped jumsuits and tops. A lot of ironic opposites, like the cut-out hoodies or the closing look that featured tight sportswear paired with a bright pink velvet blazer.
