Amalie Bryde Opens Up With Sophomore EP “In & Out of Love” About The Stages of Love

Blossoming into one of R&B’s most exciting and risk-taking artists the Danish-born songbird Amalie Bryde as gifted us with her new EP ‘In and Out of Love’. The romantic project is made up of five tracks produced by Amalie herself that tale intimate tales of the experience of falling in and out of love.

We are presented with Amalie Bryde’s raw, authentic self as she navigates the highs and lows of love in all its forms, sharing those moments of vulnerability but also the confident, sexy ones too.

In the first track of the project ‘Love Again’, Amalie’s vocals drift in and out of the catchy rhythmic guitar loop and percussion-based instrumental. We hear the subtle undertones and improvisation of jazz that’s paired with Amalie’s soulful voice.

‘Love again’ is Amalie’s desire to be in love again, inhabit the peaceful mental space, and be taken care of by her future partner. She’s in love with being in love.

If the first track was about being in love with the feeling of love, the song to follow ‘Butterflies’ captures the sensation of falling in love. Every word is measured, delicately delivered and infatuated as Amalie expertly captures the giddiness and addictive nature of love.

Slowing down the momentum, ‘Stranger Inside’ is held together by the delicate Spanish guitar rift. It is deeply personal, and almost feels intrusive as we witness Amalie reconnect with her sense of self, finding love and strength. It shows a different type of love that the earlier tracks explored but nonetheless powerful in its own right.

Following on from the theme of self-love ‘Found Love’ ft the talented Svetlana is about the aftermath of ‘stranger inside’. It’s about finding love within yourself and the comfort in that fact. The track is the most ambitious one in terms of its jazz production applying a kickback snare and saxophone it provides a feel-good vibe that is matched by the two artists' lyricism.

On “Found Love”, Amalie explains: “As women, generationally we are taught that we need three things in life to be happy; a man, kids, and a shiny new house. Svetlana and I know that’s no longer the case for every woman, and we sing about how finding love for oneself is all we need to be truly content in life.”

The Last track of the EP, ‘Like This Like That’ is a whole mood of self-expression from the instrumental to the seductive nonchalant tone of Amalie’s vocals. Both give the impression that they’re in a private dialogue together. It’s a fine example of contemporary jazz.

Looking to the near future Amalie Bryde will celebrate the “In & Out of Love” EP release with a Headline Show including a full live band at The Victoria Dalston in London on 22nd June. However long this proves why the songstress occupies her own creative space of neo-soul, jazz and R&B.
