Allina Liu hosted a special pop-up event in New York City on October 18th at 48 Ludlow Street. Presenting guests with the opportunity to be among some of the first to access the brand’s newest Fall 24’ Ready-to-wear collection. The evening consisted of light snacks, cocktails and complementary tattoos by Angela of @Noranseck. Refreshments included offerings from Drink Parch and Drink Sang, which guests jovially sipped throughout the evening.

Allina Liu is known for her intricately designed and dynamic works which filter into one’s everyday wardrobe without simultaneously dissipating into the background. Dealing in attention to detail and world-building, you not only wear the garments, the garments guide you into Allina’s universe as you wear them. The wearer becomes part of an ever-expanding narrative that combines slightly dark and fantastical storytelling with fashion.

The brand forefronts concepts of “Wearable Romance” through its decisive tailoring treatments and fabric choices. The works themselves are inspired by horror, the historically significant practice of Japanese rope bondage, Shibari, and Dutch Old Masters. As the sun’s rays began waning, the space slowly became illuminated by candlelight. Thus adding to the romance imbued throughout the collection and its many overlapping elements.

The event promoted by Lindsey Media was decadent, presenting bright colours via sliced passion fruit as it buffeted against carnally torn pomegranates. All the while, persimmon fruits lined the table. Juxtaposition presented between blooming baby pink roses and dried flowers, near devoid of colour at all. Warm toned pops of colour sprouted across the spread of cupcakes and fruit. All up for grabs. Attendees then settled into the space as fixtures among the newly unveiled garments for the autumnal season.

Canary yellow satin was draped over arms as guests perused the clothing racks. Red and white gingham also made many appearances. Neutral browns, dusty blues, and baby pinks were staples throughout the varied selection. QThe quintessential Allina Liu touches could be found throughout the series. Featured via puff sleeves, intricately tied ribbon detail, and flouncing yet practical romantic elements.

Sparkling wine corks popped in celebration of the occasion. Guests cheering and clapping in unison, celebrating the designer and the brand’s newest series of works. Smiles were a staple throughout the evening. Many walked into the event empty handed only to enthusiastically exit with some of Allina’s newest designs.

Each season brings new nuances and delicate, near secretive details. The brand’s affinity for world-building makes it clear that these whispers can exist between you and the stitch of each thread. Wearers become part of the narrative, it’s up to you whether or not you dare unveil the tales written within the collection.
