At a time where Manchester is producing a number of talented soul and R&B artists Akemi Fox is a name that has steadily been gaining a reputation for soulful melodies and nostalgia beats that create the perfect soundscape for the Manchester born songstress.
Earlier this year Akemi performed at the reopening of the famous Manchester music venue ‘Band On the Wall’ and also supported fellow Manc KSR at his show in Blues Kitchen another trendy Manchester based music venue/resturant.
Not one to stay still for very long Akemi featured on Balance, the sophomore album from Manchester hiphop/soul duo Children Of Zeus, which led to Akemi supporting them across their shows in October 2021 and March this year.
Now with her latest single ‘I want it’ she works with July7 another Manchester born talent who lends a verse with smooth vocals.
‘I want it’ is a song about a specific moment during a summer romance that never ends it’s sweet and infectious. The guitar-based production perfectly complements Akemi’s vocals that delicately sit above the beat.
I’m excited to release something that you can dance to this summer,” Akemi Fox shares. “‘I Want it’ is about not wanting to leave the party and wanting to dance all night with your love!”
Looking ahead, Akemi will support Kojey Radical at Royal Albert Hall and will potentially drop an unnamed project later this year at some point. However until then we cannot wait to see more growth from Akemi and the Manchester scene.
