Jordan Adetunji Arrives With His Debut Album 'A Jaguars Dream'

A jaguar operates mysteriously. They’re not often seen in the forefront, but then, at the right moment, they pounce. They go for what it is that they want, and secure their prey. Of the mysterious yet striking creature that he named his first full-length project after, Adetunji says ,"A Jaguar to me, is someone who moves through spaces and conquers every space it enters. This is how I feel with my sound constantly evolving and conquering every space I enter into. A Jaguar’s Dream is an entry into my love life and my world of thoughts through sound and emotion. A real manifestation of my dreams that I wish to make reality.”

Adetunji knows what it means to be a multifaceted artist. Refusing to be defined by a category of music, the Belfast-based genre-bending artist fuses together an eclectic mixture of Rock, Jersey club, Rap, R&B, and Punk to create a sound that lets his listeners eagerly listen their way through his discography, a new surprise with each track.

After being discovered by Oli Sykes less than two years ago, Adetunji has stratecally riand organically risen to the top of the music charts, his viral hit single 'Kehlani' having clocked over 350 million streams to date, charted in 37 countries, and has become one of the few UK R&B/hip-hop tracks to crack the Billboard Top 40. The track also earned him a GRAMMY nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance, causing Adetunji to make history as the first British artist ever nominated in this category. Despite his fast rise into being an acclaimed artist, Adetunji began the same way many artists do - with a simple love for music. Deeply rooted and infleunced by his Nigerian heritage and Belfast upbringing, Adetunji first fell into music at a young age after becoming inspired hearing music while watching TV and playing video games. Being exposed to the range of music that features within digital entertainment, he discovered YouTube, which led him to discover others who shared his passion from music - and led him to his favourite artists who would become musical inspiration.

Using his Mother's laptop to directly record music before he owned any professional equipment allowed him to develop a meticulous attention to detail when it came to his craft.

With 9M monthly listeners and counting features in The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and NME, and tips from Amazon, Soundcloud and VEVO Discover, Adetunji has shaken up the current music scene, and his debut album A Jaguars Dream is his way of showing the world that despite his quick success - he is here to stay.

Ferocity, strength, and power, all embodied by a jaguar, are seen in this album. The same way in which Adetunji entered the music scene, bold, and unapologetic, confident in his ability to rise to the top.

Just like a jaguar, Adetunji has been planning his next moves, his debut album being at the centre. Boasting a credible list of features and R&B grooves that are palatable, powerful, and almost addictive, A Jaguar's Dream takes Adetunji out of the box of an artist who stops at the success of their first single.

The album opens with the track that has already demanded the attention of so many. 'KEHLANI', the TikTok-viral and Barack Obama favourite track that has had masses in a loop. Kehlani, the namesake to his viral TikTok track, dubbed Adetunji as a ‘smart’ artist, who, through his decision to use her name on the highly popular track knew she would likely respond to the track. The Bay Area native did in fact respond, and in the space of a few weeks, the R&B star had asked Adetunji for a remix. The track, which sampled Summer Walker's anthem of lost love, ‘Potential’, was made in his mother's house in Belfast, and released casually on TikTok in May 2024 It blew up, and in the space of a few weeks, his artistic inspiration had reached out to him, asking for a remix. The addictive breakout single is not only an ode to the Bay Area native R&B star, but a mixture of deep groove, paired with a catchy hook that has made this track soar into becoming a well known sing-along favourite.

Too Many Women, feat Kwn follows next - a slinky, R&B-infused collaboration with the London artist . “Don’t mean to get in your way/Took another shot girl I’m waved' he sings. It's a steady groove, and Kwn navigates the bouncy melody with ease, making for an addictive track with high energy production.

Break The System' is a high energy and steady track with an addictive hook that evokes a high spirited energy.

‘People change, but I don't wanna’ ‘Girl you got me running, You got me loving you, There's no stalling with you’  Adetunji speaks on the way a new love can have one in a strong grip.

On '305' Byson Tiller joins Adetunji as the duo speak their mind. ‘I should have knew when i met you you was outside’- Tiller joins on the chorus to make for an intense track that features heavy electronic production.

With the track 'Bitter' a solemn tone takes over the record, as Adetunji starts to explore the melodic side of his voice and enhance the album with it/ itter brings a more melodic tone to the project. The track speaks on the honest feelings of disregard that can develop as a lack of communication. Adetunji sings, ‘Cant make your issues my issues but I cant help it cos' you're always on my mind’  He goes on with the honest statement, ‘I'm just bitter that you're not with me, I'm just bitter that you chose to leave’  Adetunji’s vocals spell out brutal truth, and a switch in production halfway through the track moves the song to more of a faster pace, representing the split that so often develops in one's mind

‘I'm outside im out the gate’ ‘I still need you to make me straight’ ‘You got me bitter for you’

Reminiscent of Michael Jackson's 1988 iconic track of the same name, Adetunji fuses sensual imagery with praise for a love interest. Referencing Rihanna, a well known mogul in the world of entertainment, he hails the ability of his partner to keep him satisfied, and the addition of electric production on this track fuses through and keeps listeners hooked to the narrative that A Jaguars Dream has made so far.

'Bedroom' adopts the same tone as 'Dirty Diana' - ‘I’ll make you stay up, disturb the neighbours, Girl, say my name to me five times a week’  - The lyrics get more steamy as the track continues.  ‘So tell me what you really want girl’ ;you know that we don't have to rush, we can stick to touchin’ - ‘ You been on my mind, I really want all of you’

'Options', which features Lil Baby is another track with a notable feature. The repeated assurance given - I'm the one to solve your problems’ ‘I'm the one to solve your problems’ - displays the act of choice and how that can be a majorfactor in choosing a romantic partner. Lil baby adds a short verse that ties the track together - ‘Its the weekend need it often’', leaving the track as one that will stay with listeners as they near the end of the project.

Finishing off the project is the 'KEHLANI' remix, featuring Kehlani herself and accompanied by it's own visualiser that includes both artists - sees Kehlani add her own touch to the viral hit, making for the perfect way for Adetunji to end his album - in exactly the way he began.

A Jaguars Dream is as raw and daring as it is catchy and universal - Adetunji has began his musical journey with the most daring moves, that have all paid off for him- and this album, with it's notable features and sonically eclectic production, is now a permanent mark made on the world by the singer. Claiming his territory just like a jaguar, Adetunji's sights are set on his next moves.
