A$AP Rocky’s Legacy Continues To Transcend Itself On Progressive Single ‘D.M.B.’

For a tough talking, thug-life gangster, A$AP is incredibly introspective; in the way he formulates his releases and the musical approach that he has veered towards during the later stages of his winding career. Everything about his 2018 album‘TESTING’ was thought outl, and thought provoking, and even though there were some duller cuts on the album, the sheer avant-garde creativity that Rocky displayed musically and visually arose him from the pit of strung out spitters and into the realms of genius.

After an elusive and cryptic few years for the Mob mafioso, bar Rihanna related headlines, it’s a welcomed return for Rocky, who continues to raise his creative nuance to new heights on his latest cut ‘D.M.B’. With production credits spread across names like Skepta, the sonic and rhythmic variety of the instrumental is more than matched by Rocky’s virtuoso performance, as he vividly embarks on another trip into his inner self whilst declaring his seemingly underlying love for his pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna, who just so happens to be the world’s biggest pop star. The visuals, Rocky's directional debut, are as cinematic cesspit of experimental editing, vibrant settings and visionary videography, enhancing the homage that Rocky is paying to his lover.

An intoxicating effort that keeps you guessing until its subtle climax, Rocky has once again delivered to the highest standard. Hopefully not just a one off single. A new Rocky album is needed.
